In the united states we are said to be free and with that freedom, comes freedom of expression. That doesn't seem to be the case in the past and even today. As my direct relative pointed out,Lord Lyndhurst, the defination of obscene differs between men and therefore makes proscuting under Lord Campbells act wrong.
People should have the right, as americans especially, to view or posses whatever they want regardless of what others think. The world is full of over-opiniated people that feel they should rule the world and frankly they are the ones hindering our freedom. With all of the changes in our laws, federal, state, and local, that take place every day our freedom is becoming less and less. I'm not saying have no laws but, what people do behind closed doors should be their oun business. The laws should pertain to public places not personal! Seeing as how Lord Lyndhurst had the same problem as we do now, defining obscene, our government shouldn't regulate it because they can't even agree on it.
My opinion is one that transcends many generations, and that is lighten up if not eliminate obscenity laws for regular private use. By restricting what people can posses, view, and even buy or country is becoming communist! Our government really needs to look at obscenity laws for personal people and make some real changes to represent or "free" country. Even third world countries ruled by dictors aren't as harsh!
