Bad parenting

     After reading a blog, http://stoicdaydreamer.wordpress.com/2006/04/15/i-wanna-know-what-turns-you-on/, regarding indecency and parenting it made me think about what the real assocation between the two are.  After thinking about it for a while I came to the conclusion that the author of the noted blog also did.  This conclusion is rather that worring about how to protect our youth from obscene material we as a society should focus on being better parents.

      I fell as though with the proper parenting and attention that obscene material wouldn't be a problem today.  My parents were very open with me throughout my youth and spoke to me about a lot, almost everything, and I never wanted to or even attempted to view obscene material because of that.  My parents never had the don't have sex or don't do drugs lectures, they just instilled morals upon me.  With these morals came a sense of what was right and wrong therefore making obscene materials the farthest thing from a problem.  Along with the morals came perhaps a more important thing, a lot of attention and care.  The attention and care is what a lot of children today don't get especially in homes where parents are hardely around.

     Instead of blaming the companys and other involved parties for giving our children obscene material our society must look at the real problem, the parents.  With the correct amount of care and attention our youth would not have the desire nor the outlet to view obscene materials.
